Buy a new kitchen appliance and save electricity

Many manufacturers and retailers of commercial kitchen utensils stock electrical appliances that can save money and electricity.

With its Ecogastro promotion program, Eartheffect supports businesses in reducing their own electricity consumption. Ecogastro was formerly known as "Watt à la carte" and is subject to the funding regulations of Prokilowatt, the funding program of the Swiss Federal Office of Energy. With Ecogastro, the company promotes energy-efficient kitchen appliances. In this way, it helps catering businesses to save electricity. The company also advises companies on topics such as the circular economy and is active in education for sustainable development.

"This promotion applies to appliances that are replaced, but not to new purchases," explains Martin Räber, founder and Managing Director of Eartheffect. Ecogastro certifies and promotes commercial kitchen appliances that consume less electricity. These appliances have technical innovations that lead to lower energy consumption than other appliances available on the market.

Certified device categories

"Most dealers of commercial kitchen appliances carry appliances certified by us. Customers benefit directly from the promotion. They receive this in the form of a discount, which is deducted by the retailer," says Martin Räber. Ecogastro is currently promoting the following appliance categories, among others: Combi steamers, grills, dishwashers, boiling pans, deep fryers, pizza ovens, multifunctional appliances and bain-marie. The complete list of appliances can be found on the EcoGastro website.

Manufacturers or importers of energy-efficient commercial kitchen appliances must have their appliances certified by Ecogastro in order to receive funding. Certification takes place following a measurement by a measurement laboratory recognized by Eartheffect. This is currently the University of Applied Sciences of the Grisons FHGR. The measurements are carried out in accordance with the measurement methods defined by ENAK (Energetischer Anforderungskatalog an Geräte für die Verpfalz und Beherberhaltung). Appliances are certified if they are demonstrably more energy-efficient than other new appliances and have specific energy-saving measures in place.
